Addis Ababa, June 9, 2017 (FBC) -A charity ballet performance here on late Wednesday attracted many Ethiopians and foreigners with new taste of art choreographed with traditional Ethiopian dancing styles.
The performance brought together nine world class ballet dancers from five countries that are the United States, Australia, South Africa, Japan and Chile. The performance also incorporated traditional Ethiopian dancing shows performed by emerging Ethiopian artists.
Organized in partnership with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), all proceeds from ticket sales goes for good cause to support a charity organization that feeds nearly 120 impoverished individuals, mainly children living with HIV.
Choreographed with traditional Ethiopian dancing techniques and rhymes that include performances by disabled Ethiopian dancers, the performance has brought a different taste of art and received laudable appreciation form attendants.
Organizers of the show also expressed their interest to increase the presence of ballet performance in the east African country, where they say would be an ideal place for ballet to flourish with due emphasis given to the interest from the general public.
