Addis Ababa, September 12, 2016 (FBC) – The Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) has extended its New Year greetings and best wishes to all nations, nationalities and people of Ethiopia.
In a statement it issued today, the Front reaffirmed its commitment to fulfill the pledges it made to sustain development, build democracy and maintain peace after carrying out in-depth reform with itself in the New Near.
EPRDF further said that it would do all it can and exert utmost efforts to attain the ongoing renaissance journey and bring satisfaction to the people by addressing problems of good governance in the New Year.
It also called on all nations, nationalities and people of Ethiopia to continue their active involvement in the all–round efforts being made to bring about good governance.
The violence being observed in some parts of the country do not represent the demand of Ethiopians, rather they only stand for the interest of internal and external forces who do not want to see the prosperity of the country, it said.
The Ethiopian Constitution states that everyone has the right to stage a demonstration and express his views freely. Any question can be presented peacefully and lawfully, without inciting violence, the Front indicated.
Hence, the Front, in partnership with the peace loving people, will fight against any illegal activities, the statement said.
EPRDF is more ready than ever and has full capacity to fulfill the responsibilities entrusted to it by the people, it concluded.
