Addis Ababa July 05/2017 Ethiopia is a key country in supporting the implementation of the policy and strategies of the African Union, AU Deputy Chairperson Kwesi Quartey said.
In an exclusive interview with ENA, he said Ethiopia is providing commendable support for the Union in all aspects, including efforts towards fulfilling Agenda 2063 and in areas of finance and a number of reform programs.
Ethiopia is a major and key country in its contributions to African liberation, integration and other areas, he added.
Quartey congratulated Ethiopia for successfully hosting the AU for the last 50 years.
According to the Deputy Chairperson, the heads of government and state have deliberated on AU reform, financing the Union as well as issues of peace and security and migration.
He reminded the parliament of member countries to play their role as they have an input in the full implementation of the AU agenda in their respective countries.
The issue of migration is also a common problem for African Union and they have reached agreement on way of finding sustainable solution.
"The answers to migration, we think is to have steady, sound well managed economies, applying good governance and rule of law to stay with Africa and work with Africa and attempt less and less to get into Europe," Quartey stressed.
