The Ethiopian Basketball Federation has co-organized a three days international basketball training for players and coaches in collaboration with US Embassy and NBA-Africa.
The training has been offered for about 130 basketball players and coaches of both sex categories from across different corners of Ethiopia.
Federation Office Head, Yimer Haile, said that the training is aimed at giving basketball basics and modern training for the coaches and players.
He said NBA-Africa and the US-Embassy are looking for opportunities to collaborate with the Ethiopian basketball Federation in sport training endeavours.
Counselor of Public Affairs in the US-Embassy, David Kennedy told the herald that basketball and sport in general are good healthy works that the US supports to build strong relationships with countries to develop various skills like leadership and people skills.
He said NBA-Africa will hopefully select some of the prospect players out of this training highest performance.
Luca Desta, an Ethiopia-American who is the facilitator of the training coming from Dallas, Texas said that NBA-Africa is offering players with basketball basics to give them international standard training.
He said the players have basketball potential but needs the basics of the sport. And he noted “We are here to facilitate further training and scholarship opportunities of higher level for the best players after carefully evaluating some of the top players.”
