Addis Ababa, August 2, 2016 (FBC) –The Ministry of Livestock and Fishery of (MoLF) plans to harvest over 55,000 tonnes of fish this Ethiopian fiscal year.
In order to attain the target, improved fish varieties will be distributed across the country, Wubishet Asnake, Fish and Aquatic Bodies Development Expert at MoLF, told FBC today.
Mega hydro power and irrigation projects being built in the country will contribute a lot for the success of the plan, he added.
The country harvested 48, 386 tonnes of fish from lakes, rivers, ponds and other water bodies in the concluded fiscal year.
