Ministry says 8 Ethiopians among Missing People in London Fire

Addis Ababa June 18/2017 The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that it has confirmed that eight of the 76 missing people from the fire that engulfed a residential building in London earlier this week are Ethiopians.

According to a press release it issued to ENA, the government of Ethiopia has been working to check if Ethiopian nationals and origin are among the victims of the fire.

Accordingly, it is found that eight Ethiopians are among the missing people.

According to the latest figure 30 people are already confirmed dead. Because of the nature of injuries caused by the intense fire, the identification process is expected to take some time.

As the process to identify the victims will take time, the Ethiopian government doesn’t get confirmation from British authorities on the missing Ethiopians, the Ministry said.

The government of Ethiopia through its embassy in London is working to help Ethiopian nations and origin displaced because of the fire, the release added.

Saying that it will continue to release developments about the situation of Ethiopians, the Ministry affirms that the government stands with its citizens in this dreadful accident.
