The official inauguration of the opening of JETRO Addis, Japan External Trade Organization's Office in Addis Ababa is due to be held later today (July 20, 2016).
The Chairman and CEO of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), Mr. Hiroyuki Ishige during his meeting with Ethiopia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Tedros Adhanom earlier today announced that the official inauguration of the opening of JETRO Addis is due to unfold tonight in the presence of high-level ministers, government officials, the JETRO delegation and the Ethiopian private sector.
The two sides discussed on ways of expanding the cooperation between Ethiopia and JETRO and thereby boosting bilateral trade and investment between Ethiopia and japan.
Upon welcoming the launch of JETRO Addis, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Tedros Adhanom noted that JETRO's Addis Ababa office is expected to help increase investment volume and trade relations between Ethiopia and Japan. The Minister reassured JETRO's Chairman that the Government of Ethiopia is committed to work collaboratively with JETRO and facilitate an enabling trade and investment environment.
It is to be recalled that Ethiopia and JETRO have concluded an agreement to open JETRO's Office in Addis Ababa in December 2015, during which Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr.Tedros Adhanom and JETRO's Chairman and CEO, Mr. Hiroyuki Ishige signed a Memorandum of Understanding to such effect.
JETRO, the Japan External Trade Organization, is a government-related organization that works to promote mutual trade and investment between Japan and the rest of the world. Originally established in 1958 to promote Japanese exports abroad, JETRO's core focus in the 21st century has shifted toward promoting foreign direct investment into Japan and helping small to medium size Japanese firms maximize their global export potential.
