Tirunesh Dibaba, from Ethiopia, won the Chicago Marathon women's field in 2:18:31.

Jordan Hasay set an American course record, finishing third in 2:20:58.

She broke Joan Benoit Samuelson's 1985 record of 2:21:21.

Tatyana McFadden, an Illinois alum, won for the seventh straight time pushing a sprint to the finish line for a course-record victory in 1:39:15 in the women's wheelchair competition.

Marcel Hug defended his title in the men's wheelchair race in 1:29:23.
