After meeting Foreign Minister Dr. Tedros Adhanom yesterday, UNICEF Executive Director Anthony Lake lauded Ethiopia's extraordinary success in child health care. He also appreciated the ongoing efforts of the government to withstand the El Nino effects.
According to Lake, UNICEF would provide nutrient-rich food to children in the drought affected areas of the country.
Admiring the nation's drought coping strategies, the Executive Director expressed UNICEF 's readiness to support Ethiopia in its endeavors to enhance resilience towards reducing drought effects in a sustainable manner.
The UNICEF Chief and his delegation would visit some of the drought affected areas in the country with a view to assessing El Nino effects on livestock production.
The UN specialized agency would provide nutrient-rich food worth over 100 million USD.
