Ethiopian Prime Minister, Ban Ki-moon Dialogue on Development

Addis Ababa: July 14, 2015 (FBC) – The Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn, received here the United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, as part of the installation of the Third International Conference on Financing for Development.

According to official sources, the senior officials discussed the importance of the four-day forum, in order to ensure the resources required for the implementation of the post-2015 sustainable development agenda, which is to be adopted in September in New York.

In this regard, they agreed on the need to achieve here a final document containing concrete commitments on cooperation and flow of financial assistance, capacity building and technology, in order to make the overall goal of not leaving anyone behind in the social-economic progress.

Both parties presented their views on the theme, as well as efforts for a successful event.

Desalegn and Ban also discussed the situation in Africa, especially the conflict in South Sudan and regional efforts to stop it, as those promoted by the Intergovernmental Authority on Development in East Africa.

Regarding the Ethiopian scenario, they discussed the political situation and the recent elections, described by the UN Secretary General as successful.
